When the Dream Order Becomes a Nightmare
We recently hit a milestone that most small businesses dream of: a wholesale order for over 7,000 units. On paper, we were "making it." We were living the dream—high-volume orders, a consistent social media presence, and meaningful events.
But what started as excitement quickly curdled into a deep, shaking overwhelm. In all the excitement of growth, I hadn't planned for the reality of being stretched beyond our capacity. Suddenly, I didn't feel "put together." I felt like I was drowning in our success. I started questioning everything: Is this worth it? Are we growing, or are we just burning out at a faster rate? For a few weeks, life felt scary. I realized that if a "dream order" created more anxiety than joy, then something was fundamentally broken in how I was operating.
The Courage to Go Dark
So, we did the unthinkable. We finished the 7,000-unit order, and then... we let everything else fall. We halted any activity that drained our energy, and social media was the first to go.
I’ll be honest: it was terrifying. As a small business owner, there is this constant, nagging fear that if you aren't always visible, people will forget you. I was convinced a two-week break would mean fighting the algorithm from scratch and losing everything I'd built. But my body was revealing a deeper truth that I couldn't ignore anymore: I was performing for validation instead of showing up for connection.
Why Your Winter Reflection Dictates Your Spring Bloom
This "mini-meltdown" happened to coincide with the end of Winter—the season of reflection. In the natural world, nothing blooms all year round. Winter is necessary for the soil to rest, and our spirits are no different. Read more abut the importance of rest for productivity.
When we feel overwhelmed or "stuck," that energy is a messenger. For us, the message was clear: we were too worried about the "shares" and the "likes." We felt like we had to maintain a certain momentum to stay successful. But this pause helped me realize that we don't need 5k likes to be worthy of our mission. We show up on social media to share what lights us up—our why. We do it because it’s on our hearts, not because we’re chasing a viral ghost.
The Tool: Finding Crown Chakra Clarity
Now that I’m on the other side, I’m using this transition into Spring to perform a literal energy audit. I’m looking at what activities actually bring us joy and what we can no longer carry into this new season of operating.
To help me clear the "hustle noise" and get back to my vision, I’ve been leaning into a Crown Chakra ritual. The Crown Chakra is our center of divine connection and mental clarity. When it’s clouded by the fear of "not doing enough," we lose our way.
I’ve been using Bow to the Crown Intention Oil on my temples every morning. The blend of Jasmine and Lavender isn't just a scent; it's a signal to my nervous system that it is safe to be still. It allows me to ask the hard questions: Does this project nourish me, or just drain me?
What are You Refusing to Carry Into Spring?
Our production process got a massive upgrade this month, but my boundaries got an even bigger one. I am entering this season with a much more intentional "No" list.
Spring cleaning isn't just about scrubbing baseboards; it's about deciding who and what gets access to your reclaimed energy. You can’t plant new seeds in soil that’s still covered in the debris of last season's burnout.
Tell me: What is one thing you’re officially "cleaning out" of your life to make room for your joy? Let’s leave the heavy lifting in the winter.
